In 2009 MasculineMag.com was created as a unique showcase for Michael A. Downs' photography of male models and as a brand building venture, with the ultimate goal of producing online content for fans and viewers. Masculine also serves as an outlet for the sale of paper products and other novelty items (such as the Masculine Calendar, Masculine Platinum and forth-coming "American Beefcake" book).
The men who are featured on MasculineMag.com were drawn from different sources including the company's vast network of scouts and modeling agencies. In addition, some of the guys from Downs' other male model project -- All American Guys, have been featured on the Masculine site/blog.
Although the Masculine site has been a relative success, producers have decided to retool the product to more closely resemble an online magazine with lots of channels, features, options and topics --- and not just exclusively a showcase of shirtless men. The resulting product will become the NEW MasculineMag.com, scheduled for official launch in March of 2014.
By Fall of 2013 MasculineMag.com will have morphed into a prototype of it's eventual final form. Consider it (at this stage) -- a work in progress.
